How to convert WebP to PDF
Saved an image from a website and found it’s a .webp file that your printer, email client or upload form won’t take? Convert WebP to PDF here and you get a standard PDF that opens everywhere. It works in your browser, with nothing to install.
- Add your WebP images to the box above (you can mix in JPG and PNG).
- Put them in order; each image becomes one page.
- Choose a layout. Fit to image keeps web graphics at their own shape; A4 or Letter suits printing.
- Choose Convert to PDF and download.
What is WebP, and why do you have one?
WebP is an image format developed by Google for the web. Google describes it as offering both lossless and lossy compression, producing smaller images than PNG and JPEG at comparable quality, and supporting transparency in both modes (Google for Developers, WebP). Because smaller images make pages load faster, many websites now send their pictures as WebP.
That’s usually how a WebP file lands on your computer: you right-click a picture on a website, choose Save image, and the file ends in .webp. Modern browsers display it without any trouble, but some older apps, office systems and upload forms only accept JPG, PNG or PDF.
How WebP images are converted
PDF files can’t contain WebP images directly, so each WebP picture is first turned into a standard image and then placed on a page:
| Kind of WebP | How it’s handled | Result in the PDF |
|---|---|---|
| Photo (lossy WebP) | Re-saved as a high-quality JPEG image | Looks the same at normal viewing sizes |
| Graphic or logo (lossless WebP) | Converted without visible loss | Sharp edges and text stay sharp |
| Image with transparency | Transparent areas show the page underneath | A clean white background on a normal page |
| Animated WebP | The first frame is used | One still page per animation |
If you need every frame of an animation, export the frames as separate images first, then add them all; each becomes a page.
Mixed sets are fine. When you add WebP images alongside JPG and PNG files, each file takes its own route: JPG photos still go into the PDF untouched, PNG images are stored losslessly, and only the WebP images are converted first. The page order stays exactly as you arranged it.
Saving pictures from the web, the right way
- Get the largest version. Websites often show a small preview. Opening the image on its own (for example by clicking it) frequently loads a bigger, sharper version to save.
- Check you may keep it. Product photos, artwork and articles are usually protected by copyright. Saving a receipt, a booking or your own content is fine; reusing other people’s images may not be.
- Want the whole page, not just a picture? Webpage to PDF saves a full web page, text included, as a PDF.
- Need the image in another format instead? Image converter turns WebP into JPG or PNG.
Common reasons to turn WebP into PDF
Printing
A PDF prints at a predictable size on A4 or Letter paper, with margins you choose, which is more reliable than printing an image file from a browser.
Sending to someone with an older computer
PDF opens in practically every system and email app. Combine several images into one file with the merge images to PDF steps.
Uploading to forms
Forms that accept “PDF only” take the converted file. If there’s a size limit too, use a target such as under 200 KB.
Keeping records
Images of tickets, confirmations and invoices saved from websites are easier to file and find as PDFs, especially with OCR to make their text searchable.
Ask in a sentence
- “Convert these WebP product images into one PDF catalogue, A4.”
- “Turn this WebP logo into a PDF on a white page.”
- “Make these WebP screenshots into a PDF and keep it under 1 MB.”
WebP to PDF: questions and answers
How do I convert a WebP image to PDF?
Add it above, choose a page size and margin, and choose Convert to PDF. The PDF is ready to download in seconds.
Does converting WebP to PDF lose quality?
Photos are re-saved at high quality and look the same at normal sizes; graphics and logos are converted without visible loss.
Can I convert an animated WebP?
The first frame becomes a page. For every frame, export them as separate images and add them all.
Will transparent areas turn black?
No. Transparent areas show the white page underneath.
Why do websites use WebP instead of JPG?
WebP files are usually smaller at similar quality, so pages load faster. That helps websites, but it means images you save may not open in older apps until you convert them.
Can I combine WebP, JPG and PNG images in one PDF?
Yes. Add them together in any mix; each image becomes a page.
